What’s the one thing you would do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

Many of us are living at such a fast pace, we often lose sight of what we want and where we are heading to.

I’m a mother of two children under the age of ten, and my husband works morning, noon and night. Until two years ago, a little voice in my head would say, because he is working all the time, that “I can’t do this” and “I can’t do that”. I realised I was not living and not fulfilling my needs. My twisted belief had kept me ‘stuck in a rut’.
Moving forwards, I had a choice. To keep things the same or to make a change. I began to take time out of my day to practice mindful visualisation about who I really wanted to be.

I asked myself;
• What do I want to do?
• What do I want out of life?
These are two invaluable questions to ask yourself and from them you can begin to explore more about what you do want, rather than what you don’t have.

Digging deep and even keeping a diary will allow you to open up and be completely honest with yourself. Find out what your beliefs are and question them –
• Are they actually the truth?
• Do you have hard evidence?

Often our beliefs hold us back from living to our full potential and aiming high!
One of the techniques I use with my clients, is to ask them to give themselves 15-20 minutes time out to visualise each day . If you also do this, you too will begin to make forward steps to get to where you want to be. You need to lay down in a quiet room where you feel totally comfortable and relaxed. Ensure there are no distractions around you, just peace and quiet. Once you are in this relaxed state, you can begin to start visualising the better version of yourself that you would like to be.

Often things come to mind without prompting, but if you find this difficult at first, try to visualise the answers to questions such as:
• What do you look like?
• How confident/happy do you feel?
• What clothes are you wearing?
• What are you doing?
• What dream work are you doing?
• Are you meeting lots of smiling people ?
• What would you be eating for lunch, and who with?

This exercise technique is just about letting your mind wander and dream. Tapping into your subconscious, actually allows you to be more creative in your life and helps you solve problems easier when you allow yourself to take time out. Going by your gut instinct often allows you to live a more content, happier life.
